I believe that the stories we tell, and the stories we are told, shape our lives. I love being a therapist because I am able to bear witness to others' stories, and to help people consider how they might rethink the stories they have learned to create a new, more authentic chapter in their lives.

I have been a counselor since 2013. I started my career as a high school teacher, but I soon found that I was more committed to my students' wellbeing than to the content I was teaching.

As a graduate student I learned principles that remain the foundation of my current practice:

  • Relationships heal. Experiencing empathy and feeling trust are the first and most powerful steps towards lasting change.

  • We are all developing, all the time. Each moment presents us with an opportunity to grow.

  • Our context matters. The harmful inequities all around us must be acknowledged. And even in this unjust environment, we still have agency to make changes in our lives.

My lived experience and my clients' stories have fueled my commitment to supporting clients as they confront patriarchy. I specialize in helping clients explore gender identity, gender role socialization, and sexuality.

My clinical practice and training over the last 10+ years has focused on treatment modalities that promote healing from the conditions that are most frequently experienced by women and the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I am a certified Clinical Trauma Treatment Professional, and I draw from DBT, Narrative Therapy, CBT, and Feminist Therapy. I began my counseling career in Massachusetts, and I now live and practice in Norwich, Vermont.
